The U.S. market for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production is on the cusp of dramatic growth, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Two big-ticket projects could boost overall annual production from roughly 2,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) to as much as 27,000 BBL/d before the end of 2024, and they could double the number of plants in the U.S.
