December 17, 2024--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--After expressing concern about "economic nationalism," Canada's finance minister resigned Monday amid disputes over the response to proposed U.S. tariffs.

Ostensibly to stem the flow of illegal immigrants and illicit drugs, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 25% tariff on all goods imported from Canada, including energy products.

On Monday, Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said she and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had disagreed over the way forward for Canada's economy and that she had resigned.
