Despite Climate Concerns, Little Year-on-Year Change in Global Natural Gas Consumption, Production

June 26, 2024--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Natural gas prices around the world fell sharply in 2023, but most regions did not experience much of a gain in usage, according to the recently released Statistical Review of World Energy 2024. Traditional economic thinking is that when the price of goods falls, demand for those goods rises. But the report, written by the Energy Institute (London, England), in collaboration with KPMG (Amstelveen, Netherlands) and Kearney (Chicago, Illinois), does not try to explain this apparent anomaly.
