Peru's ONP Pipeline Suffers Two Attacks in Past Month

Peru

March 19, 2024--Written by Amir Richani for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Petroperu (Lima, Peru) says Peru's longest pipeline was sabotaged twice this month. On Saturday, the state-owned oil company said it had mobilized a team to Section II of the Oleoducto Norperuano (ONP) Pipeline to respond to an attack that resulted in an oil spill. This marks the second recent attack in Section II, after the company found some cuts on the ONP in the Condorcanqui province in early March.

Following the incidents, Petroperu urged police to protect the ONP. Siphoning and cutting incidents are not uncommon on the ONP; Petroperu has reported these incidents over the years, which, in some circumstances, lead to oil spills.
