India Lifts Ban on Ethanol Production from Sugarcane Products

NEW DELHI--September 5, 2024--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Indian government has lifted the ban on ethanol production from sugarcane juice, sugar syrup, B Heavy molasses, and other raw materials. This move is expected to increase ethanol production, effectively diverting more sugar for ethanol production, which is expected to improve the financial health of sugar factories. The government has fully withdrawn the ban, allowing distilleries to operate at full capacity during the 2024-25 season. Industrial Info is tracking 491 sugar mills in India.
