Leading the way is the $5.6 billion planned Purple Line extension project, which will extend the commuter rail line 16 miles from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrolton in Prince George's County. The project is expected to kick off during the fourth quarter of this year and be completed in early 2020.
