Some Mines Coming Back Online after COVID Shutterings, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Even as some mines are just starting to implement care and maintenance (shuttering) procedures and reducing production, some mines are coming back online after being temporally shut due to COVID-19 precautions. Both Argentina and Spain have declared mining an essential business during the COVID-19 lockdowns allowing mines to reopen in those countries. Atalaya has restarted its Riotinto copper mine in Spain and Yamana Gold has restarted its Cerro Moro gold mine in Argentina. In Ontario, Canada, New Gold has begun ramping up operations at the Rainy River mine following completion of a voluntary 14-day suspension.
