Vineyard Wind Now Largest Offshore Facility in U.S.

June 27, 2024--Written by Daniel Graeber for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Sustainable energy company Avangrid Incorporated (NYSE:AGR) said the start of operations at 10 turbines for its Vineyard Wind facility offshore Massachusetts makes it the largest facility of its kind in the U.S.

The U.S. offshore wind energy sector is still in its infancy. The first commercial-scale offshore windfarm in U.S. territorial waters officially opened in March when Ørsted and utility company Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES) started operations at the 128-megawatt (MW) South Fork windfarm off the coast of New York.

Other companies featured: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, General Electric (NYSE:GE) and Equinor (NYSE:EQNR).
