PERTH, AUSTRAILIA--September 5, 2012--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Meridian Energy Limited (Wellington, New Zealand) has been recently granted the approval to construct a 131-megawatt (MW) wind farm project in Victoria. The project, which is called Mount Mercer Wind Farm, will be located 30 kilometers south of Ballarat, Victoria. The Mount Mercer Wind Farm project was proposed during 2007 by WestWind Energy Pty Limited (Nienburg, Germany). WestWind initially owned this project. In March 2009, the project was sold to Meridian Energy Limited, and it was developed through the company's Australian Subsidiary, Meridian Energy Australia. This project has undergone several design changes down the line to meet the requirements of planning and environmental approvals. The project is now pressing ahead with construction, which was followed by the capital approvals in August 2012.
