U.S. Poultry Egg, Hatchery Projects Account for $1 Billion in Potential Spending

January 23, 2025--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--After a devasting bout of avian influenza in 2022 and 2023 in the U.S. egg-laying sector, the industry is poised for recovery. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that egg production fell to a five-year low of 9.1 billion dozen in 2022, at the height of the virus. After avian flu become less of a factor in late 2023, the U.S. egg-laying sector began recovering and, according to the USDA's most recent forecast, is set to hit a record-breaking 10.8 billion dozen by 2033 as the laying population increases and the U.S. population consumes more eggs.

As the sector recovers, companies have begun implementing projects to develop new sites or expand production at existing laying facilities and hatcheries. Industrial Info is tracking more than $1 billion worth of active projects in this sector.
